Parliamentary Debate Resources

At our weekly meetings, we are eager to practice tactics, and help with case writing. But these practices aren’t the only way to learn about debate. The following resources provide excellent information.

The APDA web site has lots of helpful information. Their guide page is particularly helpful, and explains the rules, as well as some basic strategy of parliamentary debate.

If you want to watch video of parliamentary debate rounds, there is a collection of them available here.

Many well established teams have generously made public guides to debate. Some that we have found to be particularly helpful: StanfordUVM. The Stanford page is an excellent summary. The UVM page is more detailed and heavier on strategy.

If you want our team leadership to vet your cases, post them in our case database.
